PRISON SURVIVAL: LONG TERM
One of the worst things about being victimized by prisoncrats is having to eat the 'food' that they provide. Always alert for cost-cutting opportunities, prison purchasing agents insist that sellers obtain the lowest possible quality food. Buyers want the most for the least, while sellers abhor ever throwing away any food that has been returned, damaged, declared condemned or has been found to be dirty, rotted, poisonous or infested. A common trick with food, particularly "meat" is to adulterate it with fillers such as soy or oatmeal, etc, to stretch it. Often poisonous food is blended with other food to dilute its toxicity. Animal products are often condemned by meat inspectors because sick and diseased animals are always being put into the food supply. Pigs are fed arsenic laced feed to kill off their worms before processing. Ranchers are supposed to return them to non-poisonous feed for six weeks prior to slaughter to give time for the arsenic to be eliminated from the meat. Since most govt criminal-ranching operations have foodranching operations run by the captives, supervised by unscrupulous guards who are given every incentive to cut costs, it is very common for infested, diseased and poisonous meat to be served to captives. Any safe, valuable cuts are sold to state institutions while the scraps and tainted meat are ground up, glued together or breaded for feeding to the hated captives. Oklahoma's McAlester prison baloney factory is notorious for this. I've had guards try to make me grind and add dirty, spoiled, fungus-infected bacon butts to scrambled eggs for 2200 captives. Another tried to make me serve 80 gallons of syrup that had been accidently contaminated with a few ounces of disinfectant. (Some genius had used a discarded syrup jug to hold disinfectant without re-labeling it.) Another time, Hominy, OK prison deadheads and cost-cutters poisoned 900 victims by adding to leftover rice-veggie soup until it virtually exploded with salmonella bacteria. They were unable to cover this up this time because guards and visitors were among the poisoned, but they were able to publish a lie about it in the state-steered media, claiming it was 'inmate sabotage'. Two weeks later, the Health Department issued its salmonella finding, but it was only published in the tiny Hominy paper, and neither of the state's party newspapers printed any retraction. Getting away with such food crimes over and over finally caused a riot that destroyed their $90 million prison in 1983, only a few years after it was constructed. Amazingly, after they removed the captives to condemned cages in McAlester and other holes, the state guard and cops riddled the place with bullets in an orgy of vandalism, destroying much of the plate glass and heating pipes. Proof of this is still there in the chipped concrete and dented sheet metal. Now visitors are not permitted to eat prison food. Also, guards have their own kitchen/dining facilities that prepare food unconnected to the captives' food stream.
Another food hazard that captives must dodge is sodium nitrite. This cancer causing poison is added to all scrap-meats such as baloney, sausages and patties to prolong their shelf life. It kills botulism bacteria. When they found it also causes digestive system cancers, years ago, meat processing corporations were told to add vitamin C, which slows the tumor-generating process. Recently, new science calculated that consuming one ounce of scrap- or 'blended'- meat per week increases the risk of colon cancer 15 to 25 percent. (I forgot the exact number, but it is outrageously high. For details see www.jamesbauhaus.org/OKHealth.htm or/deathcamp.htm or /prisonfood.htm, et al.) Reportage of this new study was minimal, and outrage from alert citizens was suppressed. Cancer causes at least 15% of all prisoner deaths, ("Medical causes of Death in State Prisons... 2001-2004, 1-07, NCJ 216340 from the Bureau of Justice Statistics). Authority is able to get away with causing or allowing these cancers to occur because it takes 10-20 years of exposure before tumors are detectable or death is imminent. This gives the gov/biz/media alliance plenty of time and ways to dodge accountability and muddy the cause.
These factors make it vital for captives to attack the problem ourselves. The most effective way to do this is with a menu and knowledge. Captives who wish to remain healthy must keep track of what they ate and realize that it normally takes 24 hours for food to make its way through the body. You have about 31 feet of intestines, and they push food through at less than four inches/minute under normal circumstances. When bad food makes you puke, it is food that you have eaten less than three hours previously. Usually this is salmonella or ptomaine poisoning. When bad food gives you diarrhea, your bowels sometimes move faster to get rid of it, the better to prevent most of the toxins from being absorbed. Look backwards on the menu to food that you have eaten about 24 hours ago. Particularly suspect ground-up, gravy-covered scrap-meats or patties as the toxic products that caused your sickness. Since 'meats' are the most costly food item, they are the most likely to be tainted and of lowest quality. These meats are made from the scraps cut from hundreds of animals and blended together. Meat that is condemned by one inspector is often shipped across political boundaries and sneaked into captives' diets. Captives' food is barely a step above animal feed because deaths, disease and complaints have little chance of exposing the problem to outsiders, even if they care. Ask others if prison food has given them diarrhea, and which item they suspect as the cause.
Do not give them hints of what you suspect as the cause, or they will simply parrot your hypothesis. Once you have the toxic food uncovered, never eat it again. Most prison menus repeat at seven to ten day intervals, and then are mixed up to look like four weeks worth of menu, so you will see the garbage again and again. When no one complains effectively, in writing they serve more of it. When it gets thrown on the walls and ceilings, they serve less of it. Much as you hate it, this is the only way to quickly get poisonous food off the menu. It's all about cost; also publicity. Even though the public is trained by the gov/media alliance to passionately, reflexively hate persons branded 'criminal' by the state, the state and profit-prison managers still fear being outed for their food crimes. Mass protests DO work, and someone has to be the marytyr, they just require a lot of time, effort and intelligence as well as some people to suffer for the good of all captives. Complain through their phony, excusatory grievance system, and go above it and outside. The CURE organizations can be effective. Any of your family members who vote can be effective, especially near election times. Target politicians seeking election far ahead of time. Politicians keep careful records on who votes. The corporate media is quite worthless on matters such as this, (witness the lack of coverage of the three recent prison riots in El Paso, Chino and Kentucky), but the net is full of potential that is largely free of state or corporate control or censoring. (Watch for cops, though, because they are everywhere on the net and will put you in their list of harassment) Political cartoons are an age-old method of making politicians get right. Humor is often more effective than other means of complaint. (See: /Cartoons.htm) And there are many artists in prison.
As far as minimizing the harm until you can get poisonous foods removed avoid all scrap meats or minimize exposure to them by eating half or less at each meal. Smell of everything before eating it, and do not eat any prison food without scrutinizing it first.
They are never going to stop putting substandard, diseased or toxic foods in your diet. Your life and longevity depend on your constant vigilance and continuing efforts to minimize their food crimes. Good luck in making them serve non-toxic meals.
