SCIENTIFIC GOVERNMENT
Politicians ire quick are quick to try and and convince citizens that politicians deserve a raise and must raise their pay rates every year or so in order to attract to govt service "the best and the brightest minds". Though our politicians have for decades led the world in being by far the most highly paid of govt employees, they are not any where near the "best and brightest". Fact is, our system of election selects for the most conniving, ambitious, aggressive, self-servinq and affluent. (Only the affluent can afford to be idle long enough to run for office. This effectively excludes persons who have to perform honest work for a living. Also, it selects for the hereditary rich, from where the most decadent can be found. Any fool can inherit wealth, then capitalize on this colossal advantage over the best and brightest. The sad fact is that the entrenched elite actively prevent the best and brightest from competing against them in govt. This is why 61% of presidents have been mere rhetoric-artists (lawyer s) instead of, say, silicon valley entrepreneurs, university scientists or social-worker altruists. Nothing in our election system selects for the best and brightest, not even excesses of privilege and power.
We could easily select for intelligence and other desirable traits through merit testing and personality assessments, but we don't. We are trapped by the class of elected Gluttons Of Privilege and Power who insist that we labor beneath a buggy-whip constitution rather than update it to the electronic age.
Elected persons in control of what does or does not become law put many restrictions on who can vote. More important than who can vote is who can be elected. These privileged characters who use the law to pinch off opportunity for others and reduce competition for election need to prove that they are worthy of the position. The highest positions in the land should not be awarded, as they are today, to they who can talk the fastest, who can talk the most vaguely, buy the most broadcast time, wave the flag the most vigorously or feign piety by attending a major Church while the media follows them around. The big grin and flashing teeth are no substitute for actual knowledge. We do not need any more people who don't know that Africa is a country, not a nation, etc.
We have scientific methods of determining intelligence, knowledge, altruism, ethics and morality. We do this with tests, and we create a citizens' bureau of stinging politicians, same as the cops bait burglars, car thieves and other criminals.
