Thinc was formed in May of 1999 as a nonprofit corporation to fill the need of inexpensive, comprehensive criminal defense prior to arrest and trial. Market research found that the Federal, Stale and Municipal Judicial Legal apparatchiks nationwide are thoroughly inadequate for protecting the Civil and Constitutional rights of Citizens who are not affluent, not well-connected and, for a host of other reasons, otherwise unable to effectively fend off official attack upon their persons. Further research indicated that a minimum of 15% of all non-death penalty convictions are completely spurious! This statistic tells us that 330,000 of the 2.2 million citizens suffering American prison enslavery are innocent of the crimes that have been dealt them by Police, Prosecutors and Judges. Additionally, of the over 700,000 new convictions that Police and Prosecutors perpetrate every year, 105,000 more innocents are enslaved.

Bad as it is that the failure and false positive rate of Police and Prosecutors is so unacceptably high, worse is the fact that for every innocent abducted into their jails, an actual criminal escapes justice and is thus encouraged to perpetrate more, worse crimes.

These facts being so, THING was created to:

1. Educate and inform citizens of their remaining civil rights

2. Alert citizens of pending or planned gov't revocation of civil rights, whether by Executive fiat, Legislation, bureaucratic rule, or by stealth.

3. Form a network of informed, voting, vocal citizens to publicly protest and decry the continuing diminution of citizens rights by gov't, corporate and other special interest groups. .

4. Create an influencing agency, similar to the Trial Lawyers' Association lobbying group, to press legislators for increased citizens' rights.

5. Attempt to expose and drive a wedge between the gov/media alliance in order to cause journalists to report events more fairly, with less automatic pro-gov't slant, and to cause police, prosecutors and politicians to cease or slow their use of the media to stampede the voter- and juror-pools in specific directions that suit their ends.

6. Develop a sense of unity in citizens by teaching the facts that: a31 wealth and power flow up from this lowest, broadest class of producers, not down from gov't or the merchant-elite; the gov't corporations and other moneyed, connected, influential or other privileged individuals or groups commonly think of working class citizen voters as little more than a taxherd resource to be fought over or a nuisance to be gotten around; almost n no one at the upper levels of the decision-making apparatuses has even a slight altruistic bent; and, a gov't of scientists and technologists would be far more competent, more forward-thinking and less self-obsessed than the current one of mostly lawyers and other stripes of rhetoric-artists, posers and classist sociopaths.

7. Expose the fact that the elected and other privileged classes enjoy a separate, excessively lenient, justice system that permits them to perpetrate massive crimes that injure multitudes of citizens for long periods before they ever get caught, IF they ever get caught. When caught, they are often permitted to dodge exposure altogether by having their crimes adjudicated secretly, "in-house", by "internal affairs". This special treatment encourages more, worse crime that is repeated until finally they become so heinous that they can no longer be concealed. Public figures also are let . to dodge real interrogation by the police and allowed to merely make statements and resign with their fat pensions rather than answer questions and suffer real punishment. The privileged classes' many perks and advantages extend far above the law that working men and women suffer, and it is THINC's mission to keep bringing this new legal technology out in the open where ordinary voters can scrutinize, evaluate, modify and possibly veto it.

8. Formulate an archive of miscreants within the privileged classes, since this is a task that gov't will not perform or will not reveal to ordinary citizens. Gov't tracks mostly blue-collar criminals as it lets professional and white-collar criminals move clandestinely among the unsuspecting public.

9. Develop a playbook which serves as the ordinary citizens' mind and memory, same as the many gov't playbooks that function as its mind and memory, and use these playbooks as levers to attain and maintain parity with gov't and other elite groups. E. g., every time citizens protest, unions strike or jurors are picked by the prosecution, the gov't has the advantage of knowing how it last succeeded in taking away citizens' rights, forced workers to toil for less or chose jurors with a predeliction for voting guilty verdicts. Citizens are not organized, have short memories, and lack manuals that allow us to learn from prior mistakes. THINC intends to remedy this disadvantage by forcing gov't to recognize that we require, as individuals and small disadvantaged groups, extra consideration in lieu of the fact that we perpetually stand below the learning curve of the gov't and elite forces who accuse and attack us.

10. Form an International Citizens' Protection Union to promote unity,

project our philosophy of Altruistic cooperation, tend our goals of obtaining parity with elite and privileged groups, in lieu of the fact that citizens make up the most disorganized and thus most trod-upon and powerless group of persons in the world; a prey-class, if you will.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE

THINC is a netsite containing over a million words of informative, short essays that provide insight into the way society, gov't, media, merchants and other groups operate. The centerpiece of THING is the treatise, "Innocent's Guide to Avoiding False Conviction". This effort addresses the fact that courtrooms are high-pressure conviction and plea-"bargain" factories that take excessive advantage of an ignorant clientele to fuel various gov't industries, the last of which is prison. Anyone who visits this netsite can quickly access pertinent information that is available nowhere else to lessen, or even prevent, the harm that gov't actors intend to wreak upon loved ones and individuals.

In the near future THING intends to institute a gov-watch feature where members can post alerts of new inroads and pogroms against citizen's rights. Within a few months THING expects to be able to launch a legislation influencing division that will make a difference in modifying political thought from using anti-crime hysteria to obtain re-election.

Another service ice will be one that parallels the above in that THING will attempt to influence journalists against promoting anti-crime hysteria to sell their products and advertising.

THINC is soon to field an archive where members can post alerts about specific police, lawyers, prosecutors and judges who have been caught using illegal tactics to coerce confessions, take money and real estate without providing service, force acceptance of onerous plea-"bargains", trade favors against clients and any other illegal acts in common practice within the cop and lawyer systems.

THING also intends to form a union of citizens who have been targeted and victimized by gov't for the purpose of regaining our voting and other civil rights and for slowing gov't predation toward all citizens.

MARKETING PLAN

Marketing goals: THINC's major objective is to unionize, make members of, or at least provide service to, all 2.2 million current American captives and their families. Additionally, THING intends to specifically target the 700,000-plus citizens who are processed through the cop/lawyer system every year. This core group is essential to THINC's educative strategy because the only quality control on the lawyers' system is the jury. Once a target of prosecution is deprived of his right to a jury and fair trial, or successfully convicted, there is only a .45% chance of his ever getting out from under the sanctions imposed, however ridiculous that newly-uncovered evidence makes the accusations appear later.

After creating a solid voting block of captives' families, THINC's goal is to quadruple the number of writers that we employ, quadruple the number of netsite hits and visits within a year and expand into philanthropy. As a new business with virtually no competitors, THING already has the major share of a sleeping market.

Competitive Market Analysis: our competitors are criminal lawyers, prosecutors, judges and paralegals, all of whom supply the opposite of THINC's services. They grease the skids to prison, where THING provides the means to fight the system, avoid its traps and negotiate less insane punishments.

The lawyers, et al, enjoy a gov't-supported monopoly on the practice of law that is only slowly being eroded by laws that permit them to "compete" with each other through advertising for customers, public realization that minor law "services" that consist of a single page of flowery legal jargon should not cost hundreds of dollars, and the willingness of clerks, paralegals and legal aid societies to undercut this rape of supplicants by providing low-cost forms to fill out in lieu of extremely overpriced consultations with lawyers. E.g, an uncontested divorce fell from hundreds or thousends of dollars to $15 and a $50 filing fee; a power of attorney fell from hundreds of dollars to virtually free. Wills, trusts and other legal instruments are now taught in Time-Life books. What these people, institutions and corporations have done to make civil law accessible to non-affluent citizens, THINC intends to do to the last bastion of legal monopoly: criminal law. Lawyers are only respected by each other and their fellow elites. Clients of lawyers, over time, gradually grow to despise lawyers. Persons in dire straits due to cop/lawyer attacks welcome any alternative to lawyers once they've suffered their "services".

Target Market Analysis: persons most likely to utilize THINC services are parents or siblings of teenagers and young adults. Their incomes range from zero to $50,000/year. Such persons often have little disposable income, live in the poorer sections of town and often receive some form of public assistance. This is why the bulk of THINC services are free to all. soon we will ask that persons using our service consider donating money, time or effort to the organization, if possible:; or subscribe to our e-mail legal alert system, or become members or pay union dues. Clients can access our services from any net connection at any time of day. Clients will choose THINC over lawyers and other legal services, or in addition to them, because THINC provides a check on their antics and insight into their practices that is available nowhere else. Clients access THINC's database because they can depend on our information to be trustworthy, altruistic and knowledgeable in that it was formulated by persons who have been through the lawyers' system wringer and survived. Clients also appreciate being treated as more than a notch on a cop's gun, a gold star for a prosecutor or re-election statistic for a judge.

Marketing Strategies: as an internet based business, THINC is listed with all the major search engines and collects interest through entry of key words such as "innocent conviction", "free legal", "new law" and many others. Additionally, the number of hits and visits have been steadily growing, anong with the number of other sites that use THINC as a reference or resource. These conditions, plus word of mouth, increase cur page rank with respect to competitors and similarly-oriented sites. Our business image is established by the information we provide, which shows a compassionate, altruistic bent along with a no-nonsense attitude toward gov't excess and political corruption.

THINC advertises through direct mail, targeting publishers of prison newsletters, sympathetic news agencies, selected politicians and any other individuals or organizations who seem to have like goals of fairness, freedom and altruism. Our main problem is that most of our clients have already been convicted, and thus it is usually too late for them to obtain fairness or reasonable sanction for their crimes. To remedy this, we intend, in the near future, to afford lists of the accused from jail rosters and court dock.et sheets. Since it is essential that clients learn about the cop/lawyer system prior to trial for our services to be of any use, THINC will gradually phase in a campaign of public service announcements, begin targeting jail captives through direct mail and build on our growing reputation through blog spots, chat rooms, bulletin boards and alternative media outlets.

MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATION

THINC was able to become a non-profit startup corporation eight years ago through a generous endowment from the Bauhaus family. As a non-profit, no stock will be issued outside the family. Ms. Wolfram Sprightly is charged with daily operation. She keeps up with the latest in computer and communication science by virtue of her job as technological support supervisor for MCI wireless communications corporation. No other employees are needed or scheduled for hire anytime soon.

OPERATING REQUIREMENTS

Daily operation of THINC consists of scanning new information, proofreading it, uploading it onto the site, sending and answering e-mails, detecting and repairing damage and vandalism, and maintaining a backup copy. Since the Internet Service Provider does its work off-site, the content provider has very little to do besides provide quality content. THINC requires very little to do this: a computer; a scanner; an internet connection.

FINANCIAL DATA

Startup costs were minimal. A modest computer, printer, scanner and software package was less than $1500 and is dual use. The internet connection and page generation was $100 to start, and $20/month. The domain name name is $10/year. Disks, paper, ink and electricity don't amount to $10/month. That's $2,070 the first year, less than $370 each succeeding year. (Labor is not charged, and averages 2 hours/ week.) Costs are seen to decline in some years and have not risen more than 4$ in any year so far. Costs are thus expected to remain relatively stable indefinitely. Given this financial climate, the Bauhaus endowment is expected to easily provide funding indefinitely.

Growth of hits and visits have averaged 10%year, leading us to believe that soon we should be able to turn part of the site into a subscriberonly domain. Since our costs are only $70/ month, and hits and visits run over 3,000/month, only token payments of cents per view and download will bring us to the break-even point. This is easily accomplished with services such as Paypal or the sale of subscriptions and memberships. As prison growth is fueled by terrorism and crime hysteria, so grows the public's interest in justice, fairness and THINC as more and more citizens become victims of the cop and lawyers' systems. Additional interest and revenue can be expected from promoting THINC objectives in chatrooms, in blog spots and seminars. On the whole, the future looks bright for THING as the eclipse of man proceeds apace:

(Author's note: I had originally intended to submit four business plans, but due to the recent upheaval I am suddenly left without wordprocesser access or even a typewriter, making the extra work quite arduous. My second business plan was to be a continuation of growth of THINC, in that THINC profits would gradually purchase servers of its own and help to solve the "last mile" problem by providing wireless broadband to local subscribers. (The last mile to the subscribers' locations is the most expensive and problematic part of providing internet service.) Right now the creation of internet hotspots via Bluetooth technology or the IEEE 802.1 6-g broadcasting standard is encouraged by federal, state and local governments and unregulated and untaxed. There is no better time for finding high population density, upscale, locations in which to install wireless internet service nodes.

My third business plan was to automate the parole process and improve its accuracy and efficiency by incorporating new, unique, anthropological functions into the software. To my dismay, I found that a Professor James Austin has already developed his own software and algorhithms to do this and sold these services to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections to uncover "low-risk offender candidates for parole". (See my enclosed "Proposal for Parole Selection Automation".)

My fourth business plan had not progressed much beyond the planning stage. It entails giving idle prisoners incentive to read non-fiction books onto disks. There appears to be a market of commuters who are tired of listening to mindless music and talk-radio blather. They wish to obtain some utility from this wasted driving time by learning something useful. The obstacles in this field are determining specific wants and delivering them at a competitive price within a reasonable timeframe. Thin markets can be made to work when subsidized by the cheapest possible labor. Witness the double-digit growth of China's GNP.

I hope that this crude thing is acceptable. Please tell me if it is not, and I will fix the defficiencies or produce another, more comprehensive one.

Thank you for a great class and stimulating diversion from interminable prison trivial pursuits.

            Sincerely,

            James Bauhaus
